My
current station at G0BPS
The station at G0BPS has undergone a few changes over the past year, the trusty Kenwood TS950SD that I have used for over ten years has gone, it was a huge radio and weighed a ton or more. It came with the external Kenwood speaker and the MC-60 Mic. The new owner was delighted with it. For mobile / holiday work I picked up an Yaesu FT857 at the Florida Hamfest in 2006 for a good price and later that same year was offered an ATAS 120 to match it for silly money. It works! Best DX was VK whilst mobile up the M20 in my Vauxhall Zafira. Now have the Jaguar 'S' Type so not so sure about mounting a rig. The Yaesu FT857 is an excellent rig and when I spotted a bigger brother on e**y (That dreaded auction site) I grabbed it, the FT747 is an excellent rig ideal for meteor scatter and satellite work with the Yaesu MD100 Mic. Antennas at G0BPS change regularly, but mostly the ones that stay put are the 160m Doublet with centre at 10m (30feet). The 70Cms and 2m Beams at about 12m just above the Cushcraft A4S, 4 ele tribander. Also waiting to go up is the GAP Titan. Other wire antennas are up - down as the weather changes. I just love to play with wire antennas. ATU's vary between the AT1000 pro (did I mention the Explorer 1200 Amp?), the LDG AT-200 Pro and the LDG Z11. My small hand held rig is a Chinese Quansheng again off e**y for under £35 brand new! Keys are the Bencher which I have had for about 20 years and in 2009 I picked up a Brown Brothers key in the flea market at Dayton for $100 - a steal! It is just SO smooth. Laptops are Dell D610, Advent mini notebook (that is brilliant) and the various leads for PSK31.
